Welcome to the Cottage At Talon Lake:

Here you will find a fully equipped, comfortable, clean, home like facility, with extensive amenities set in an idyllic lakeside setting. This cottage is available for rentals during selected periods from May through September.

Where ?:

Talon Lake is situated just north of Hwy #17 between the communities of North Bay and Mattawa Ontario. It falls within the Hamlet of Rutherglen in Bonfield Township. It lies approximately along the northern border of Algonquin Park and is part of the historic Voyageur Route which serviced the Fur Trade in the 18th century.

What's it like ?:

Talon Lake is fed by the Kaiboskong River which flows from Lake Nosbonsing to the south. It is approximately 16km long from end to end. The lake is comprised of a series of large and small bays and coves branching from a central channel. It is surrounded by the hills of the Laurentian range. The lake forms the head of the Mattawa river which begins at the foot of the waterfall/dam at the lakes eastern end.
Fish are abundant in a large variety of species including Lake Trout, Walleye, Small mouth Bass, Northern Pike, Musky, Perch, and even Sturgeon.

Amenities:

The cottage features hot and cold running water, shower, laundry facillities, propane stove/oven, fridge, use of a propane bbq, life jackets, numerous lawn game equipment ie: horseshoes, lawn bowling etc. There is a large deck which surrounds 3 sides of the cottage and has views overlooking the lake. There is a large dock which is cabable of receiving boats over 20 feet in length. Boat rental is also available. It is possible to swim off the end of the dock. Water shoes are recomended. There is a large beach at Grasswell point which is in the center of the lake. The cottage will comfortably sleep six people, in its 3 bedrooms.

The City of North Bay lies 25 minutes to the west of the cottage along Hwy #17. North Bay is home to 56,000 people and has an excellent hospital, university, college, two large shopping malls, an historic downtown with fine restraunts and entertainment.

The Town of Mattawa lies 18 minutes to the east and is along the Quebec border. Mattawa hosts the historic Voyageur Days festival each summer.

Gagne's General store is a short 5 minute drive from the cottage into the Hamlet of Rutherglen along Hwy #17. Here you will find gas, ice, bbq supplies including propane, hardware, fishing supplies and licensing, lumber, liquor and beer sales.


Rental Costs:

The Cottage at Talon Lake is available to rent for one week periods running from Saturday to Saturday, May through September . Cost for a one week stay is $1200.00 Canadian dollars. Rental of the available 16ft aluminum utility boat with a 15 horse power outboard motor is $125.00 for the week including one full tank of gas. Total for the week including boat rental would then be $1325.00 Canadian dollars.

NOTE: Boat renters must provide proof that they have completed the Canadian Coast Guards small craft operators course. This can be completed online prior to arrival.
